Worship

Every week our church offers the chance to worship, but in different ways and sometimes different places.
-
We normally have a fairly traditional form of worship that lasts about an hour on Sunday mornings at 10:30. This is followed by refreshments. Everyone is welcome to come and join us.
-
Please note that you won’t be expected to do anything you’d rather not do, there is no money offering in the service (although donations can be taken), and simple guidelines such as ‘Please be seated’ (for example) are given throughout the service.
-
On the third Sunday of the month we offer a Zoom service to help those housebound, away on holiday, or just simply for those who prefer it. Feel free to e-mail the church secretary for the Zoom link.
-
On the fifth Sunday of the month we do something special with one of our sister churches. If no update is showing here, please check our Facebook page.
-
We have extra worship around special events around Easter, Christmas and other times.
-
And sometimes we worship in different ways such as the special jazz service we held in June
-
There will be occasional Sundays when we will be worshipping at one of the other churches in our Pastorate (ie Bracknell, Maidenhead or Windsor URC) so please do check the worship diary in our Magazine.

Midweek events
We have some regular events:

House Group
We have a fortnightly house group that meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.
This small group often works through a booklet to guide some discussion, but it also works as a great social gathering. For more information please e-mail the church secretary secretary.christchurchurcmarlow@gmail.com

Pastorate Lent Group
Rev Chris Parker will lead a weekly Lent group for all four churches in the Pastorate. Each session will be held twice, once on Zoom and once in person.
The first Zoom session will be at 7.30pm on Tuesday 24 February and the first in person session will be at 10.30 am at Maidenhead URC, West Street, Maidenhead SL6 1RL. All are welcome.
Special Events
We are thrilled to work closely with our sister church in Maidenhead on the Ukraine support work we do, and we are part of the active Churches Together in Marlow (CTM) group. We often do things with other churches. Each year we generally take part in special events for: Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Good Friday, Christian Aid week, Marlow Regatta, Carnival, Harvest Thanksgiving, Remembrance, and so much more!

The World Day of Prayer service will be held at the Marlow Methodists church at 11 am on Friday, 6 March. Representatives from all churches in Marlow, including Christ Church United Reformed Church, will take part. The material has been prepared by women in Nigeria. Please come along!
The Garden
Our garden has really become an extension of the church in the past couple of years. With the inauguration of the Walk of Life we have created a community facility for local people and visitors. From time to time, we meet here to worship or to hold a prayer meeting

On Easter Sundays, we now hold a short service in the garden at 9am when we decorate the empty cross with flowers.
We also hold a weekly vigil for Ukraine in the garden at 4pm every Sunday
In response to the helplessness many of us feel when we see what is going on in the world (eg in Israel, Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan) and in our own country where there seems to be rising feelings of mistrust and misunderstanding between communities, we and River Church are now holding a monthly candlelit vigil for peace, hope and justice in the garden at 5pm on the first Sunday of month. Please join us.

Christian Aid Week
10-10 May 2026
Christian Aid week 10 -16 May 2026
Christ Church has long supported this annual activity, working alongside other churches in Marlow, and will be doing so again in 2026. The official launch of Christian Aid Week 2026 will take place at the Christian Aid Changemakers’ Conference on 14 March, so watch this space for more information about the focus of this year’s campaign. In the meantime, we are delighted to announce that Gillian Dibden and the Taplow Youth Choirs have again kindly agreed to put on a concert at Christ Church URC on 10 May 2026 to raise funds for Christian Aid.
Christian Aid week 11-17 May, 2025.
To start Christian Aid week, there was a fundraising concert on the evening of Sunday 11th May at Christ Church URC, Marlow, when once again Gillian Dibden brought young people from the Taplow Youth Choirs to entertain us. We raised an amazing £850. Many thanks to all who made this concert possible and to all those who attended.
We also did the usual "envelope drop" in Marlow during the week to raise funds for Christian Aid's work relieving poverty, responding to emergencies and disasters (eg the Middle Eastern Humanitarian Appeal, Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal) and helping the world's poorest people to find independence and dignity by supporting long term projects. This year the Christian Aid Week appeal focussed on the work of Christian Aid’s partners in Guatemala. Guatemala is among the ten countries in the world most vulnerable to disasters and climate emergencies. Over the past three years, extended dry seasons have severely damaged the livelihoods of subsistence farmers, who rely upon rain for their crops. We have set up a fundraising page for anyone who wishes to donate online: https://fundraise.christianaid.org.uk/envelope-2025/marlow

Thanks to all those who continue to support Christian Aid week.
