MUSIC in CHRIST CHURCH
ABOUT US
Christ Church was built in 1840 and beautifully modernised in 2002-3. The chapel's superb acoustic makes it a perfect venue for both small and large groups of performers. We started a regular concert programme in 2012 and, by the summer of 2022, had run 75 events in all. We are no longer able to run concerts in the way we used to, but we still hold occasional concerts, mainly to raise funds for Christian Aid and for our Aid For Ukraine project. In addition to the concerts we run ourselves, we have several organisations which routinely hire our building for their rehearsals and some concerts.
The Ukraine Solidarity Jazz Band gave us a wonderful evening of music on Sunday 12 April and helped us to raise just over £1000 for our Aid for Ukraine project. We had another great evening on 30 May when Ukulele Mondays performed at another fundraising concert. As well as raising £1900 for our Aid for Ukraine project, we had a wonderful evening of music and even some dancing in the aisles! And the good news is that Ukulele Mondays are planning to return in the autumn to give another concert. Watch this space for further details.
